Sew Sweet!

I want to sew a cake!

Library Love...

I Love to page through sewing, quilting, crafty books. I check them out in piles from the library. I use the library's website to search and hold them, so I never have to search the shelves. But...Sometimes I want to read a book that they don't have. (like...Simple Gifts to Stitch)Whatever shall I do??
I found out I have two options...BOTH I can do online! The library is so great!!
Option 1: Inter library loan. This means that Timberland will borrow the book from another library (say..in California) and lend it to you! It takes a few weeks for the request to be processed, but how great is that!
Or
Option 2: Fill out a purchase request form. This is what I did. It takes two months but, if they buy the book (say...doodle stitching) they call & you get to read it first!! I'm so excited to see if they deemed my choices worthy! Then I get to check them out as much as I like.

Its super easy, You do need to know the publisher & date of the book you want (like...Last Minute Patchwork + Quilted Gifts ) From the library's homepage, click on Ask A Librarian and choose your form!!(they are listed under e-mail) Now I can see ALL the books!! I can hardly wait!!

3 good sports...

This is what I overheard as my boys + 1 cousin began a game of Star Wars Monopoly...

Put your right hand on top of your head and the one finger of your left hand on your eye. O.k., Now (and they all said) "I pledge allegance to this game. I will play to the end even if I loose, and I will be a good sport about loosing, and I will be a good sport about winning." It was a very solemn serimony. Until Z added "And we promise not to beat each other up"
I love these guys!
And...It's not finished, but here are those yo-yo's:
(it still needs the ribbon to cover the embroidery hoop) I was inspired by a pink yo-yo mobile I saw I think on flickr, but I can't find it now.

Napkins...

Last weekend I set up my serger and made.... Cloth napkins!! 6 of each pattern here. Now I just need to find the right red fabric to make 6 more. And I finished my scrap scaves. They're cute, but a little shorter that I like.
Do you see all those yo-yos? I have a plan for some of them. Hopefully I'll get to it this weekend! And...I want to make lots more. Maybe tonight. (Came home from work to find a clean kitchen, lunch made for me and 3 happy men. What a great day! Thanks to my Love!!)

Happy Valentine's day!

Thank you for all the love to my boys! They really did work so hard on those! I'm so excited it payed off for them! Now, they are sick. Poor things. At least they should be well in time for thier Mid-Winter break!

I have a few things to show, but the image button won't work today. Maybe tomorrow.
Happy Valentine's day!

Sometimes I brag

Z's oral report was a puppet-recital of Jesus healing ten leppers. He made the puppets with NO help from me. He made a plan, drew his design and this is the final product!

R memorized and recited (with no note cards) the poem "If" by Rudyard Kipling. He scored 100%!

Nice work boys!!

Hello February, Goodbye Christmas...

Where did January go?? Now it's February. Mid-Winter break is in 2 weeks. Valentines' Day is approching. The boys' oral reports are done(and they did excillently!) It's quilt month at Sew Mama Sew. And...I have some finished projects to show!

In January, I wanted to make a Christmas tree ornament for each day of the month. I didn't make it. But, I did make a dozen ice cream cone ornaments with this cute pattern shared by Lil Birdie Stitches .(Thank you for sharing!) The cones are from courduroy pants, and the Ice cream is an old channile bed spread from Shalisa(thanks!) I'm saving these for little gifts this coming Christmas.

The pattern for these delicious gingerbread men is by Elsie Marley.(Thank you for sharing!) I hope to make more of them to give (as a set of 1 bitten, one whole)with food gifts in Dec. I love them.

These (bad pic) are all made from yo-yos. The tree is a tutorial shared by losabia (thank you, too!)on Craftster. Now I'm done with Cristmas.
