Don't buy patterns!

I love to waste WAY too much time admiring others' work and searching for and reading patterns. This has lead me to form the opinion that, if you are not too picky, one need NEVER pay for a pattern for what one may want to make. For example, I am making a quilt from a pattern here: www.freespiritfabric.com/core-pages/patterns.php . I'd like to test my theory. Tell me something you want to sew, knit, crochet, etc...and I'll post a link to a pattern or tutorial. I can find it! Just leave a comment to play with me.

*edit--I still will buy patterns. But, sharing is fun!

I am the same way sometimes. I like examing other things I see to see how they did it so then I can do it at home. Couple of examples I've started making wreaths out of diapers for shower gifts; and at mops we did placemat purses.. well now I'm making purse but not out of just placemats. I'm almost done with second one and plan to post a pic. :) If I want to make a wearable garment I will by the pattern I don't trust myself to wing that yet.

you can help me with coming up with a fun and creative quite pattern for sammy. i usually just imagine them up in my head...and tada! through trial and error it comes together...but it may be fun to really attempt a fun and more complex pattern for his first baby quilt. let me know what you think.

also, mel and i are getting together this week to sew miracle blankets (for swaddling i guess) and slings...we're just going to wing it, but if you found actual patterns for those, it might come off a little smoother. :)

get to work julia!

Maternity clothes. Particularly dresses. I saw on burdastyle a lady altered one of their patterns for her belly and it was cute, but I haven't seen much else. I have a couple fabrics I want to make some long sleeve shirts with too. :)

Do you have suggestions for an easy starter project for a 7 year-old and her mom to try? Gabby got a Singer Tiny Tailor sewing machine for her birthday!

Hi. I am looking for the tree skirt pattern you showed in the last Victorian issue. It was an off white color with lime green trim and big self covered buttons! My email address is sharona@telluridecolorado.net
